Microsoft Will Introduce A Free Fntivirus Software—Morro
It is reported that Microsoft has been ready for the introduction of free anti-virus software, this software will compete with Symantec and McAfee productions.
The spokesman said that Microsoft has tested the earlier version of the microsoft free antivirus software by the internal employees , and will introduce Beta version on the company’s Web site in the days.
Investors are closely watching this, code-named “Morro” free antivirus software, worried about possible damage to the product Symantec and McAfee products, the two company’s products to protect the PC pre-installed Windows system from hacker attacks , annual revenue was as high as several billion dollars. Market research institutes of the FBR Capital Markets analyst Daniel Ives said: “This is a long-term competitive threat”, but the impact of the near future is almost negligible.
Microsoft had said that Morro killing will provide a wide range of basic functions of the virus. Morro can provide protection against viruses, spyware, Rootkit and Trojan horses and other types of malicious software protection. It is similar to Symantec and McAfee low-end personal products sold at about 40 U.S. dollars per year. But the largest product of the two companies is the security suite software, with encryption, firewalls, password protection, parental controls and data backup features.
Symantec has not yet been a spokesman to comment on this, Trend Micro is refusing to comment.
